Arena
Description
Sumo competitions are held on a square platform which is called Dohyo.
There are two types of the Dohyo:
- Mori-Dohyo (Dohyo on the platform);
- Khira-Dohyo (Dohyo on the floor) - for training and competition in the absence of Mori-Dohyo.
The fighting arena is limited by the perimeter line of Cebu-Davara , which consists of 20 bags of kodavara , 16 of which are mounted through the circle, and 4 in the gaps of the circle. 4 made sectors are called
Toku-Davara and are considered as the fighting arena.
In accordance with the old Japanese traditions, there is special ceremonial roof hanged above the Dohyo - yakata, which is framed by short curtains with tassels.
Yakata may be installed on the four poles or columns.
